Beard oil, beard balm and beard wax. What are the differences?

So, this is one of the questions that most people ask me when they see my the TrueGentsCo. products. What are the differences? Do you need all of them? So I will try to, shortly, explain what are the differences, how to use each one of them, and if you can or should use them all together or not.

To answer about the difference between a beard oil, a beard balm and a beard wax, is easier to start by what they have in common. There are many different recipes and understanding on what each of those products should be, but I will be comparing the recipes used by our TrueGentsCo. products.

So, beard oil, beard balm and beard wax, all have oils that help to condition your beard hair and protect and hydrate the skin under your beard. So they all will keep your beard full, shinny and healthy. The difference then, comes on the texture and the purpose.

A Beard Oil is liquid, made only by oils that keep its liquid state in a room temperature, making it easy to penetrate the hair and skin, and giving a instant shine to your beard.

A Beard Balm has the same oils as a Beard Oil, but also has Bees Wax, Mango Butter, Coconut Oil and Shea Butter, which help to give a bit of control to your beard, while still hydrating and conditioning the hair and skin.

A Beard Wax is almost the same as the Beard Balm, but instead of Mango Butter, we add Lanolin, Cocoa Butter – which is solid in room temperature – which keeps all together, giving it a stronger and more solid texture, which provide a higher level of control, so you can use to style your beard and moustache like a true gent.

And should or could you use all of them? Well, yes, but not at the same time. Come on!

The Beard Oil can be used every day, because is a softer oil and rapidly absorbed by the skin and beard hair. The Beard Balm is pretty much the same, but because it contains Lanolin and Bees Wax, it’s recommended to use 2 to 3 days per week, on those days where you want your beard to look a bit more sharp than normal. And the Beard Wax is just for those special days when you want to have a hipster moustache or keep your beard behaving well for the whole day, since it has even more Bees Wax than the Beard Balm, which is harder to wash it off. Is important to say, that none of the ingredients used in our formulas cause any allergy or problems to your skin or hair, and theoretically they could all be used everyday, but well, we recommend to use each of them for its own purpose.

So, why not grab your favorite Beard Oil, Beard Balm or Beard Wax and start taking care of that scruffy beard of yours right now? By the way, we have a special kit with a special discount if you want to get all of them.

Enjoy!
